ALOK to be honored at The Wavys 2024

The Wavy Awards is proud to announce ALOK as the recipient of this year's prestigious Kristyn Potter Award. Named in honor of the late founder, artist and activist, Kristyn Potter, the award celebrates individuals who exemplify exceptional artistry while actively advocating for social change.

As a non-binary writer, performer, and fashion icon, ALOK has continuously challenged norms and expanded the boundaries of self-expression. Their advocacy for gender non-conformity and racial justice has had a profound impact on communities worldwide, inspiring meaningful dialogue and promoting inclusivity in art and beyond.

"We are thrilled to recognize ALOK with the Kristyn Potter Award of Exceptional Activism through Art," said Rebecca Autumn Sansom, Founder of The Wavy Awards. "ALOK's fearless creativity and unwavering commitment to social justice epitomize the values we uphold at The Wavy Awards. Their contributions to the arts and advocacy serve as a much needed wave of hope and inspiration for future generations."

The Kristyn Potter Award will be presented to ALOK during the upcoming Wavy Awards ceremony on September 14th at The Abrons Arts Center Playhouse Theatre in NYC  by industry trailblazers Michaela Jordan from Golden Poppy Music and artist and author Elana Low.  The event will gather leading voices in the music and entertainment community to celebrate diversity and honor excellence in the music industry.
