The Wavy’s Stands With Trans Community Following Tragic Loss of VA Veteran

In the wake of a heartbreaking loss in Syracuse, where a transgender veteran died by suicide after being discharged from a VA psychiatric unit, the WAVYS music community reaffirms our unwavering support for transgender rights and dignity.

"The Wavy’s has always been and will always be a space that celebrates and uplifts our trans community members," states Founder, Rebecca Autumn Sansom. "In music, we find strength, unity, and the power to resist erasure. To our trans community - your stories matter, your lives matter, and your music matters. We hear you, we see you, and we stand with you."

Call to Action: Now more than ever, we must amplify trans voices and stories through music. The Wavys remains committed to:

  • Providing a platform for trans artists and musicians

  • Actively opposing discriminatory policies

  • Creating safe spaces for expression and community

  • Supporting organizations that serve trans veterans
