Wavy Glitter Member Spotlight: Dr. Cyn’s Video “Not Today Exploitation” Honors Simone Biles and World Mental Health Day

October 10, 2024 - To mark World Mental Health Day, the artist and Wavy Glitter Member, Dr. Cyn, unveiled a new visualizer for the song Not Today Exploitation. Inspired by Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, the track draws attention to the importance of prioritizing mental health, particularly in high-pressure environments. The release is in line with this year’s World Mental Health Day theme: "It is time to prioritize mental health in the workplace."

The visualizer, created by Dr. CynCorrigible using Neural Frames technology, features AI-generated depictions of the artist as a gymnast, mirroring Biles’ courage in stepping away from competition for the sake of her well-being. Throughout the video, Dr. Cyn is shown performing with an AI band and leading street protests, visually amplifying the song’s message of resistance against exploitation and the necessity of self-care.

The video’s cover art captures a close-up of Dr. Cyn’s face, animated by AI to include their iconic blonde mohawk spiked upward and face painted white with a striking black stripe across the eyes. Set against a background of multicolored squares, the imagery evokes the unsettling "black mirror" effect of modern technology, where smartphone screens reflect back a distorted version of the self.

This visually and thematically rich release is a reminder of the challenges of mental health in today’s world, with Dr. Cyn’s work urging viewers to reconsider the toll of relentless demands on both body and mind.
