Wavy Music News Exclusive: Meet Ciph Boogie, Brooklyn’s Cinematic Storyteller
If you didn’t catch Ciph Boogie at The Wavys, here’s your chance to meet one of Brooklyn’s most compelling indie voices. Born and raised in Brooklyn with roots extending to Benin City, Nigeria, through his father, Ciph Boogie seamlessly blends New York grit with global pride. His cinematic hip hop style is all about weaving vivid stories and real-life emotion into every record.
“My sound plays like a movie through music—it’s visual, emotional, and rooted in truth,” he shares. “I carry Brooklyn’s grit and my father’s pride in everything I write; my music is about resilience, legacy, and standing tall no matter what.”
The Journey Behind ‘Stars in the Sky’
Ciph’s Wavy-winning track, “Stars in the Sky,” was born out of reflection and growth, shaped by the profound loss of his mother and the enduring lessons she left behind. “It’s about clarity, endurance, and honoring the people who made me who I am,” Ciph explains. The song was produced by David E Beats, a collaborator he’s worked with for over fourteen years, dating back to his acclaimed 2011 EP, “Sometime in New York City Vol 1.” According to Ciph, this latest record recaptures their chemistry—but with a deeper, more cinematic maturity that fans are resonating with.

Words for Artists Navigating Tough Times
For fellow artists feeling the pressure and uncertainty of today’s world, Ciph offers heartfelt advice: “When life feels heavy, that’s when art matters most. Creating is survival. It captures what we’re living through and gives others something to hold onto. Keep creating, even when it’s tough. Especially then. That’s when your truth carries the most weight.”
